Koa Fabaceae Endemic to the Hawaiian Islands Hālawa Valley, Oʻahu  Brown seed pods shown here.  Early Hawaiians: Medicinally, koa leaves were placed under a pile of lau hala mats if a person had been in a sick bed for a long time.
